Some patients have asked about hay fever steroid injections. In previous years, we offered these on a pay-as-you-go basis following a short GP consultation.
The situation has recently changed: the steroid injection we previously used for hay fever (Kenalog) was withdrawn in 2025, and our clinic currently has no other steroid injections available that are licensed specifically for hay fever. Any such injection would therefore necessitate being administered on an unlicensed basis..
There are important considerations with unlicensed treatments. In line with our prescribing approach, we will now only consider steroid injections for members, since the membership model provides ongoing assessment, monitoring, and continuity of care that we feel are necessary to do this safely.
Even then, first-line treatments such as antihistamines and nasal steroid sprays should be fully explored, and other second-line options considered, before proceeding.
Membership also offers additional benefits, including annual medicals, year-round GP appointments, flu vaccinations, travel advice, and more - all of which may be valuable for hay fever sufferers.
