Attend your appointment and one of our experienced nurses or phlebotomists will collect your blood sample. If your test also includes another sample, such as urine or stool, we will provide the necessary collection kit and clear instructions.
Results are typically available within Same day. Some individual markers may take longer if they require specialist laboratory processing. We will normally wait until the full profile is complete before issuing your reviewed results.
Fasting is not essential for most cholesterol tests. LDL and HDL cholesterol change very little after eating, although triglycerides can be more affected. You may therefore choose to fast for 8–12 hours for the clearest triglyceride result, but for most people either approach is acceptable. Plain water is fine.
Testosterone is usually best measured in the morning, ideally before 10:00 am, particularly when investigating possible testosterone deficiency. Fasting is not normally required unless another marker in the profile requires it.
This test may be particularly useful for: Annual men's health assessment; Low libido; Fatigue; Reduced energy; Weight gain; Erectile dysfunction; Reduced muscle strength; Reduced athletic performance; General wellbeing.
This test is commonly chosen when investigating: Fatigue; Low libido; Erectile dysfunction; Reduced energy; Weight gain; Poor recovery; Reduced muscle mass. Blood tests are only one part of an assessment, and results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.
This test may help assess or investigate: Anaemia; Diabetes & prediabetes; Inflammation; Kidney dysfunction; Liver dysfunction; High cholesterol; Increased cardiovascular risk; Thyroid disorders; Autoimmune thyroid disease; Raised PSA; Testosterone deficiency; Low free testosterone; High SHBG; Vitamin D deficiency; Vitamin B12 deficiency; Folate deficiency; Low iron stores. An abnormal result does not necessarily confirm a diagnosis, but it may help guide further assessment.
This profile includes: Full Blood Count (FBC); HbA1c; High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP); Sodium; Potassium; Urea; Creatinine; Uric Acid; Calcium; Corrected Calcium; Total Protein; Albumin; Globulin; Bilirubin; Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP); Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT); Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST); Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT); Total Cholesterol; Triglycerides; VLDL Cholesterol; HDL Cholesterol; LDL Cholesterol; Total Cholesterol:HDL Ratio; HDL Percentage; Non-HDL Cholesterol; TSH; Free T3; Free T4; Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO); Thyroglobulin Antibodies; Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA); Ferritin; Folate; Vitamin B12; Vitamin D; Testosterone; Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG); Free Androgen Index (FAI); Albumin; Calculated Free Testosterone.
