Attend your appointment and one of our experienced nurses or phlebotomists will collect your blood sample. If your test also includes another sample, such as urine or stool, we will provide the necessary collection kit and clear instructions.
Results are typically available within 2–3 working days. Some individual markers may take longer if they require specialist laboratory processing. We will normally wait until the full profile is complete before issuing your reviewed results.
Fasting is not essential for most cholesterol tests. LDL and HDL cholesterol change very little after eating, although triglycerides can be more affected. You may therefore choose to fast for 8–12 hours for the clearest triglyceride result, but for most people either approach is acceptable. Plain water is fine.
Where practical, avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand. Heavy exercise can temporarily affect creatine kinase (CK), AST and some other results.
This test may be particularly useful for: Annual health screening; Fatigue; Family history; Preventative healthcare; Health optimisation.
This test is commonly chosen when investigating: Tiredness; Low energy; Weight changes; General health concerns. Blood tests are only one part of an assessment, and results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.
This test may help assess or investigate: Anaemia; Iron deficiency; Diabetes & pre-diabetes; High cholesterol; Cardiovascular disease risk; Kidney disease; Liver disease; Thyroid disorders; Inflammation; Gout. An abnormal result does not necessarily confirm a diagnosis, but it may help guide further assessment.
This profile includes: Full Blood Count (FBC); HbA1c; hs-CRP; Urea & Electrolytes (U&E); Creatinine; eGFR; Liver Function Tests (LFT); Lipid Profile; TSH; Iron; Ferritin; Calcium; Albumin; Total Protein; Creatine Kinase (CK); Uric Acid.
