Ambulatory ECG Monitoring (24 Hours or Longer)
Tracing up to 1-week duration available (for £275–£400)
More about ECG Continuous Monitoring - Select from 1 day (24 hours) up to 7 days of monitoring
There’s very little you need to do in advance. Please come to your appointment with clean, dry skin and avoid using moisturisers, body lotions, or oils on your chest on the day, as these can affect how well the ECG electrodes stick.
We recommend wearing a loose-fitting top so the device can be comfortably fitted underneath. You can continue your normal daily activities while wearing the monitor, but you’ll need to keep the device dry – so avoid swimming, bathing, or heavy sweating during the recording period.
If you take regular medications, continue these as usual unless your doctor has advised otherwise. You’ll be given clear instructions before you leave the clinic, including how to note any symptoms and when to return the device for analysis.
When you arrive for your ambulatory ECG appointment, one of our clinicians will explain the process and fit a small, lightweight ECG monitor to your chest using adhesive electrodes. The device will continuously record your heart rhythm for the selected duration – 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, or up to one week – while you continue your normal daily activities.
You’ll be asked to note any symptoms you experience (such as palpitations or dizziness) and when they occur. At the end of the monitoring period, you’ll return the device to the clinic so we can download and securely send the data for specialist analysis.
A detailed ECG report is usually available within a few days and can be sent directly to you or your referring clinician. If you’d like help interpreting the results or discussing next steps, you can book a short follow-up GP consultation with one of our doctors.
