Attend your appointment and one of our experienced nurses or phlebotomists will collect your blood sample. If your test also includes another sample, such as urine or stool, we will provide the necessary collection kit and clear instructions.
Results are typically available within Same day. Some individual markers may take longer if they require specialist laboratory processing. We will normally wait until the full profile is complete before issuing your reviewed results.
Fasting is not essential for most cholesterol tests. LDL and HDL cholesterol change very little after eating, although triglycerides can be more affected. You may therefore choose to fast for 8–12 hours for the clearest triglyceride result, but for most people either approach is acceptable. Plain water is fine.
Testosterone is usually best measured in the morning, ideally before 10:00 am, particularly when investigating possible testosterone deficiency. Fasting is not normally required unless another marker in the profile requires it.
This test may be particularly useful for: Annual men's health assessment; Low libido; Reduced energy; Fatigue; Weight gain; Reduced fitness; Erectile dysfunction; General wellbeing.
This test is commonly chosen when investigating: Fatigue; Reduced energy; Low libido; Erectile dysfunction; Weight gain; Poor recovery. Blood tests are only one part of an assessment, and results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.
