This blood test is designed for follow-up after a needlestick injury or occupational blood exposure. It includes a fourth-generation HIV-1 & HIV-2 Antigen/Antibody test, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) and Hepatitis C Antibody. Follow-up testing helps identify infections that may not have been detectable immediately after exposure because of recognised laboratory window periods. This assessment is intended for follow-up after baseline testing and complements our Needlestick Baseline Screen. The appropriate timing depends on the organism involved, the exposure risk and current occupational health guidance.

Attend your appointment and one of our experienced nurses or phlebotomists will collect your blood sample. If your test also includes another sample, such as urine or stool, we will provide the necessary collection kit and clear instructions.
Results are typically available within 2 working days. Some individual markers may take longer if they require specialist laboratory processing. We will normally wait until the full profile is complete before issuing your reviewed results.
