Attend your appointment and one of our experienced nurses or phlebotomists will collect your blood sample. If your test also includes another sample, such as urine or stool, we will provide the necessary collection kit and clear instructions.
Results are typically available within Same day. Some individual markers may take longer if they require specialist laboratory processing. We will normally wait until the full profile is complete before issuing your reviewed results.
Testosterone is usually best measured in the morning, ideally before 10:00 am, particularly when investigating possible testosterone deficiency. Fasting is not normally required unless another marker in the profile requires it.
This test may be particularly useful for: Hormonal health assessment; Irregular periods; Heavy periods; Perimenopausal symptoms; Low libido; Hair loss; Thyroid symptoms; Unexplained fatigue.
This test is commonly chosen when investigating: Fatigue; Irregular periods; Heavy periods; Hot flushes; Mood changes; Weight change; Hair loss; Low libido; Acne; Palpitations. Blood tests are only one part of an assessment, and results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.
This test may help assess or investigate: Underactive thyroid; Overactive thyroid; Autoimmune thyroid disease; Hormonal imbalance; Raised prolactin; Androgen imbalance; Reproductive hormone disorders. An abnormal result does not necessarily confirm a diagnosis, but it may help guide further assessment.
This profile includes: Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH); Free Thyroxine (Free T4); Free Triiodothyronine (Free T3); Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO); Thyroglobulin Antibodies; Oestradiol; Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH); Luteinising Hormone (LH); Progesterone; Prolactin; Testosterone; Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG); Free Androgen Index (FAI).
The ideal timing depends on which hormones are being measured and why they are being tested. For many fertility and ovarian function assessments, blood tests are often recommended between days 2 and 5 of your menstrual cycle (where Day 1 is the first day of your period).
If your doctor has advised a specific day for testing, please follow their recommendation. If your menstrual cycles are irregular, you are postmenopausal, or you are taking hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy (HRT), your clinician may recommend a different approach.
