A GP consultation at 222 Healthcare is an excellent first step in managing your allergies. Our GP, with a specialist diploma in allergy from Imperial College London, can assess your symptoms, recommend appropriate testing, and provide guidance on over-the-counter medications or treatments. While the GP is not a specialist allergist, they can offer valuable support, help manage your condition with medications, and refer you to specialist clinics for more complex treatments like immunotherapy or patch testing.
IgE tests measure the level of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in your blood, which are involved in allergic reactions. These tests are used to identify specific allergens such as pollen, pet dander, or certain foods like nuts or milk. IgE tests are particularly useful for diagnosing immediate-type allergies, but they may not detect non-IgE mediated allergies, such as some delayed food reactions. Your GP can help determine whether an IgE test is suitable for your symptoms.
We offer testing for a variety of allergens, including common food allergies (e.g., nuts, dairy, eggs), environmental allergens (e.g., pollen, dust mites), pet allergies, insect stings, and more. Our testing options include both single allergen tests and comprehensive panels that cover a broad range of potential triggers. We also provide specialised tests, such as those for shellfish, finfish, and even antibiotics.
No, we do not offer non-IgE testing. If you are concerned about non-IgE mediated allergies or intolerances, it's usually best to start with a consultation with one of our GPs. The GP can assess your symptoms, provide guidance on the next steps, and refer you to the appropriate specialist if necessary.
No, we do not offer patch testing. If we believe that a patch test is necessary, we will refer you to an appropriate allergy clinic for further evaluation and testing.
Currently, we do not offer immunotherapy (allergy shots) as part of our service. Immunotherapy is best carried out at specialist allergy clinics. However, our GP can assess your condition and, if necessary, refer you to a specialist allergy clinic for immunotherapy or other advanced treatments.
Yes, we offer allergy consultations and tests for children. If we feel a young child requires allergy testing, we refer them to a specialist phlebotomy service in London. This ensures that they receive the most appropriate care and testing for their age and needs.
